New for 2027 season
We believe in creating gentle and reduced treatment bees. New for 2026,I purchased Golden West Queen bees. if you’re like me, never heard of them before. Randy Oliver has been selectively breeding bees that don’t require mite treatments, are gentle and make large amounts of honey. Not a few colonies but thousands and for last 10yrs or so. I have been treatment free last 3yrs. What’s my secret? I let them fail and make them requeen themselves. Those colonies get new bought queens and we try again. I don’t make queens. i’ve been asked numerous times to make local queens. Never say never but I need to investigate how to help control local mating. It would be a more affordable option. We will see.
When it comes to production, if I have to treat, I will. But won’t treat for no reason.
We can support Randy and his program buy using them. Yes they cost more, but we can all invest in moving towards treatment free. I will also have Italian queens from Hawaiian Queen Company. They have been great and quality stock.
i will have nucs available from both. Both are gentle and premium but I’ll pay more to have gentle bees. That’s a small dollar amount difference when you consider what it cost to be in this hobby.
